The materials that are used in a building should be strong and practical. They should be able to withstand wear and not be damaged too much by the day-to-day uses of the building (of course, there will always have to be some maintenance).


Some materials may be perfect in certain circumstances but less good in others. You can make a good igloo from snow and ice, for example, but would not want to use it for building apartment blocks in LA.
