The design quality indicators are the things we look for in a well designed building.

They come under three main headings:

• Functionality: the building does its job

• Build quality: it is well made

• Impact: it looks and feels good

These three things link together like the circles in a Venn diagram. The best designs will be right at the centre, strong in all three areas, although not all good designs are perfect.
