How can we judge the design quality of places and spaces?
Is it all just a question of taste?
What does a 'good design' mean?

Developed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) as part of its commitment to ‘inspire people to demand more from their buildings and spaces’, this site aims to address these questions through a new way of thinking about design quality.

The site has been built around the principles of the Design Quality Indicator (DQI), a pioneering professional evaluation process developed by the Construction Industry Council in collaboration with leading architects.

For more about the DQI model of design see About design quality or take a look at the interactive Design quality analyser.
